Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care Team

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples,
if you have love for one another. John 13:35
This is my commandment, that you love one another,
as I have loved you. John 15:12

The Presbyterian Church in Canada writes, “Pastoral care is one of the most powerful ways we can demonstrate the love of God to one another. It must not be left to the Minister and Elders alone; God calls all of us to love each other. How well we care for each other will influence how well we care for our neighbours.” (Ways to be a Caring Church Community)

Everyone experiences challenging situations at some point in life. This could be an illness, depression, loneliness, the loss of a loved one or loss of employment. Pastoral care is our Church’s response to the difficulties members of our congregation may experience.

Pastoral care can take many different forms but at its heart is reaching out to others with our care and concern. Visiting our members in their homes, telephone calls, emails, driving to appointments, providing meals and sending cards are some examples of our Pastoral care activities at St. Andrew’s.

Our Pastoral Care team also prepares gift baskets at Easter and Christmas for those who are ill, hospitalized or unable to attend Church.

We also acknowledge that many of our members provide Pastoral care outside of the Pastoral Care team and we are grateful for their care and concern.

The Pastoral Care team includes Reverend John Read, Reverend Anne Yee Hibbs, Esther Blackwell, Barb Raphael, Anna Place, Renne Lyon, Laura Doull and Nancy Serafini.
